The Norwell Knights volleyball team’s magic ended in the sectional championship to Bellmont on Saturday at Oak Hill High School.

They were the only Wells County school to win its first match in the sectional, as they defeated Mississinewa 3-0 on Thursday.

Early Saturday afternoon, they faced Northwestern (21-7) in a five-set battle that had Norwell crawling back from a 2-0 deficit, losing 25-19 and 25-16. The next two sets were 25-12 and 25-21 to force the rubber match set, shockingly a blowout 15-3 victory for Norwell.

The win put them through to the sectional championship to face Bellmont, who posted a 27-6 record on the season, one of which included a sweep over the Knights earlier in the year.

The Knights ended up losing again at the hands of the Braves with a similar 3-0 final score. The set scores were 25-10, 25-12, and 25-21.
