When you hear the name Officer Stephanie I’m sure one of two thoughts pop into your head, the Ossian cop that loves kids or the Ossian cop that loves animals. Both are true but she’s so much more than that. I have had the honor of calling Stephanie Tucker my friend for many years now and I have seen first hand how much the community of Ossian means to her and how serious her commitment to this community really is.
Stephanie served as the DARE Officer to Ossian Elementary school for many years but at some point she decided just going into the classroom and talking to the kids wasn’t enough. She has seen first hand what drugs and alcohol can do to a community and to families and that’s where the idea for the DARE Mobile came from. With no money and just a good idea she went to work to make it happen.
To make things interesting, Stephanie decided if her fundraising goal was met she would shave her head, and that’s exactly what she did, she shaved her head! The community now has an interactive mobile display all because Stephanie wanted to do more.
Over the years we have watched Archbold Wilson park turn into a beautiful park for families to enjoy, but what about our pets? Once again with no money and just a great idea she went to work fundraising and we now have The Bone Yard, a fun and safe place to take our dogs so they can run off leash.
I really don’t know if she knows how to use the word no, because anytime something is asked of her she always says “yes.” You would like her to come talk to a youth group about safety of some type, just give her the time and location. The Ossian Days committee needs help, just let her know when the meeting is and what committees you need her to head. Anytime I have seen something asked of her she doesn’t think twice to say yes, and that is why she will be the perfect person to be on the Ossian Town Council.
Stephanie Tucker loves this community and will do everything in her power to make it the best it can be. When it’s time to cast your vote for Ossian Town Council, please vote for Stephanie Tucker.
