Bluffton boys’ XC places fourth out of 20 teams at Manchester Invitational

The Bluffton boys’ and girls’ cross country teams traveled Saturday morning to Manchester high school for the Manchester XC Invitational. The boys’ team placed fourth of 20 schools, while the girls did not have a team score but had two runners.

For the boys, they finished with an average time of 18:27.02. Behind Penn, Culver Academies, and Northrop.

Individually, the top runner for the Tigers was Tyler Godwin, finishing in 14th place with a time of 17:40.46. Following Godwin in 20th place was Samuel Baumgartner at 17:56.27, 22nd place Jude Baumgartner at 18:11.17, 24th Levi Johns at 18:12.44, 67th Brett Kuhlenbeck at 20:14.77, 82nd Ayden Teeple at 21:06.49, and 83rd Jackson Rockwell at 21:09.90.

For the girls, the top runners for the Tigers were Annika Linderwell in 78th place with a time of 24:53.7. Dakota Lee was not far behind her in 81st place with a time of 25:05.9.

The JV boys’ team also ran at the Invitational, competing with five runners. Leading the way for the JV team was Griffin Linderwll in 23rd place at a time of 20:40.5, followed by 34th Elija Robles at 22:15.0, 36th Manning Wutz at 22:39.2, 44th Owen Lesh at 24:00.2, and 46th Dalton Rodgers at 24:15.9.

Bluffton’s cross country teams will be running next at the Wildcat Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept 10.

Tigers’ tennis finishes fourth, No 1. doubles first at  West Noble Invitational

The Bluffton Tigers tennis team took the trip to West Noble for a tennis invitational that included eight schools.

Bluffton finished fourth in the event with a team score of 32, which was behind the winner Huntington North (46), West Noble (41), and Bremen (39).

The invitational featured five tournaments for each of the following groups, No. 1, 2, and 3 singles and the No. 1 and 2 doubles.

The Tigers No. 1 doubles team of Drew Pressler and Preston Daughtery were the highest finisher and overall winner of their tournament. The duo went 3-0 to capture the title.

In No. 1 singles, Keegan Schwartz placed fifth with a 2-1 record. No. 2 singles Anthony Hartman finished seventh with a 1-2 record. No. 3 singles was a combined effort from Logan Reifsteck and Nolan Lambert to finish seventh with a 1-2 record.

The No. 2 doubles team of Blake Moser and Max Worth finished in second place with a 2-1 record.

The Tiger’s next match will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 6, at Wabash.

48th annual Parlor City Trot half-marathon results

The 48th annual Parlor City Trot took place Saturday in downtown Bluffton. Here are the top finishers from each age group for both female and male competitors.

Starting with the female group, the overall winner was Laura Zenger from Fort Wayne, with a time of 1:21:53.0.

The Master’s winner was Widi Gaff from Fort Wayne with a time of 1:28:11.0.

Ages 20 to 29 was Autumn Carrell from Akron, IN, with a time of 2:16:53.5.

Ages 30 to 39 was Jacqueline Boff from Hilliard with a time of2:00:32.7.

Ages 40 to 49 was Jenniffer Jordan from Fort Wayne with a time of 2:03:56.2.

Ages 50 to 59 was Julie Gregory from Fort Wayne with a time of 2:06:16.7.

Ages 60 to 69 was Carol Dobis from Fort Wayne with a time of 2:17:18.7.

Ages 70 and over was Bev Hoban from Fort Wayne with a time of 3:03:04.1.

For the male group, the overall winner was Bluffton’s Noah Steffen, with a time of 1:09:11.0.

In the Master’s group, Joe McFarren from Liberty Center was the winner with a time of 1:18:59.0.

Ages 19 and under was Jonah Silcox from Fort Wayne with a time of 1:37:38.0.

Ages 20 to 29 was Isaiah Palmer from Bluffton with a time of 1:46:25.3.

Ages 30 to 39 was Jonathan Lugar from Muncie with a time of 1:30:41.0.

Ages 40 to 49 was Matt Kelley from Fort Wayne with a time of 1:49:22.0.

Ages 50 to 50 was Paul Stiver from Germantown with a time of 1:42:48.9.

Ages 60 to 69 was Michael Conrad from Decatur with a time of 1:44:41.2.

Ages 70 and older was Jed Pearson from Fort Wayne with a time of 2:09:17.0.
