Tuesday, 9:21 a.m., caller reported his child shared with him that last Friday at Roush Park, a boy was showing other children a handgun.

County:

Monday, 1:07 p.m., fireworks store at 2941E-U.S. 224. Burglar alarm. Deputy responded. Alarm tripped by a bird inside the store.

Monday, 1:43 p.m., Ind. 3 at Willow Road. Tree fell into a Century Link utility line.

Tuesday, 4:53 a.m., Country Corner Deli, 2956 S. Main St., Liberty Center. Burglar alarm. Sheriff’s deputy responded. Alarm accidentally tripped by the owner who spotted a fire next door and immediately reported it, but forgot to turn off the store’s alarm.

Thursday, 9:06 p.m., 100E near 700N. Cale T. Grzych, 36, Ossian, hit a deer with his 2014 Chrysler Town and Country van. Damage to the van exceeded $5,000.

Saturday, 1:47 a.m., 600E near 1150N. Brianna M. Stone, 25, Tocsin, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, south on 600E when she fell asleep at the wheel, drove off the road and hit an American  Electric Power pole, breaking the pole and causing it to fall in the road. The collision also caused the Tahoe to rotate around the pole and end up facing northeast in the front yard of Richard Sorg, 11218N-600E. Stone reportedly walked away from the scene of the crash but was returned a short time later by her mother to report the crash. Stone suffered a head injury in the crash and reportedly sought medical care privately. Damage exceeded $10,000. 

Sunday, 10:50 p.m., Ind. 3 near 1000S. Bailey A. Montgomery, 25, Vincennes, hit a deer with her 2018 Jaguar E-pace. Damage to the car exceeded $25,000.

Monday, 2:03 p.m., Ouabache State Park. Christopher M. Mowery, 48, rural Decatur, was driving south on the driveway leading to the campgrounds area of the park in his 2019 RAM 2500 pickup truck. Robert L. Perkins, 68, Harlan, was northbound in a 2017 Ford F-250 pickup truck towing a camper trailer. Mowery got too far to the left and clipped the camper causing more than $2,500 damage total.

Tuesday, 9:41 a.m., Ind. 1 south of 400N. A northbound semi hauling straw dropped a bale on the road and it was hit by a southbound 2009 Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle driven by Erica Love, 31, Petroleum. The impact with the straw bale broke off the front bumper and caused other damage to the vehicle. The semi continued northbound without stopping and Love continued southbound to the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter where she phoned for help. Damage exceeded $2,500. The investigating officer noted in his report that after speaking with Love, he drove to the scene of impact and the bumper was no longer there.

FIRES

Tuesday, 4:46 a.m., 2980 W. Walnut St. Liberty Center. Flames and smoke showing from a pile of rubble from a house fire the previous day. Liberty Township Fire Department dispatched.

Tuesday, 12:12 p.m., Walmart Supercenter parking lot, 2100 N. Main St. Motorcycle caught on fire. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. The cause of the fire isn’t known exactly but the rider had been filling the motorcycle with gas at nearby Murphy Oil. As he started to pull away from the gas station into the general parking lot for Walmart, the cycle began to smoke and then flames started showing just underneath the gas tank. Firefighters quickly doused the fire and detached the tank from the motorcycle. The rider was not injured and information on his identity was unavailable.
