The Don Hoopingarner family has donated funds for a community stage in Markle.
Mike Grant, assistant town supervisor, said last week that the town will utilize volunteer and contracted services to make the project a reality. It will be installed in the Markle Fish and Game Club Park.
The stage is currently in the design phase, Grant said, and a firm has been hired for that work. Right now the size is estimated at 20-feet-by-40-feet. The town is paying the fees for the design architect.
The project may be completed as early as this fall.
Plans call for events such as concerts or movies in the park to be held once a month. It will help get people to the park, Grant said.
