Mother Nature pulled a great April Fool’s joke yesterday, covering our yards with snow!  Hopefully, that is the last one for the year, so we can start warming up.

Easter is fast approaching, and we have some fun events planned for the kids.  The annual free Easter Egg Hunt is Thursday, April 14th, at Roush Park.  Arrive around 5 p.m. if you want to meet some furry animals before the hunt starts at 5:30 p.m.

Kids will be divided by age groups and assigned a baseball field to search for over 4,000 colorful eggs. The age groups are 4 and under, 5 to 8, and 9 and older.  Be sure to bring a bag or basket for each child.

After the hunt, we ask that the empty plastic eggs are placed in the storage box to be refilled for next year.

The free Dog Egg Hunt will be held on April 14 at Roush Park (near the basketball courts), starting promptly at 5:45 p.m. Pets must be on a leash at all times. This is a drop-in event. Make sure to bring an Easter basket or bag to put the dog treats in.

Sensory-friendly Easter Egg Hunt — Often, the crowds of people and loud noises at community Easter egg hunts can be overwhelming for children with exceptional needs. We are offering a less stressful sensory-friendly Easter egg hunt complete with furry farm animals at 6:30 p.m. at Lions Park on Thursday, April 14. Registration is required for this event by calling or emailing the office at 824-6069 or e-mailing events@blufftonindiana.gov

For you fitness-minded folks, we want to remind you that the City Gym membership has gone on sale, and you can save $20!  Joining now only costs $60 for a single membership or $80 for the entire family until the end of the year.  Stop by the Clerk’s office in City Hall to purchase a key.

Volleyball anyone? We have a great group of adults who play volleyball in the City Gym from 7 to 9 p.m. each Wednesday year-round. They are looking for additional players age 16 and older to join them and invite you to stop by and play. The cost is only $1 per night.

Do you play Pickleball? We are looking for a volunteer who enjoys playing pickleball and is willing to meet weekly at Lion’s Park on a day and time of their choosing. We want to offer a drop-in opportunity for adults to meet others and play. We will provide extra paddles and balls. If you are interested, call the park office at 824-6069.

Next week is your last chance to purchase Princess Tea Party tickets to meet Aurora (Sleeping Beauty).  The show currently for sale is at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9.  The day will include sipping tea, tasting cookies, dancing, singing, a craft, and plenty of time for photos and autographs. Princess or dressy attire is appropriate.

Tickets will be on sale at the Clerk Treasurer’s office in City Hall, 128 E. Market St. Youth tickets cost $15, and adults are $10.

Congratulations to Abby Garrett, age 9, for winning the spring coloring contest out of 83 entries!

We want to send a huge “thank you” to the Wells County Foundation, who generously granted our department funds to purchase ADA swings and picnic tables for our parks from the G. Robert and Emma Studabaker Endowment Fund for the Physically and/or Mentally Challenged. This is a tremendous blessing as we transition to making our outdoor spaces accessible for everyone.

The Wells County Foundation is also a Title Sponsor for the Summer Kehoe Concert Series, allowing us to provide top-notch musical entertainment this summer!

Have a great week!
