City:
Wednesday, 7:42 p.m., The Garage, 126 N. Main St. Report of a group of four juveniles hanging around outside of the youth center waiting on a boy inside the center to come out so that they could beat him up. Officer responded. Information taken for a report.
Wednesday, 9:07 p.m., Lancaster Senior Villas, 1800 S. Wayne St. Report of a suspicious dark-colored truck and men who had exited the truck were loading appliances into the bed of the truck. Officer responded. Turned out to be people collecting scrap for the Salvation Army.
Thursday, 7:10 a.m., 700 block of North Main Street. Large brown trash bin lying in the street.
Thursday, 10:50 a.m., residence in the 400 block of East Wiley Avenue. Caller reported someone threw eggs at her house.
Thursday, 11:49 a.m., First Merchants Bank, 1405 Baker Place. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. Armored truck driver set off the alarm.
Thursday, 12:19 p.m., Pine Grove apartments. Site manager of the apartment complex reported that someone had been calling people who had applied for an apartment at the apartment complex. The caller claims to be from Pine Grove but is actually a con artist trying to defraud the applicants out of money.

Wednesday, 12:04 p.m., sheriff’s deputy assisted a homeless man seeking shelter by transporting him to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.
Wednesday, 12:51 p.m., Ind. 116 at 600E. Alro Steel semi slid off the road and dumped part of its load of steel onto the road. Sheriff’s deputy responded. Parker’s Towing was contacted and the truck was reloaded by 2:42 p.m.
Wednesday, 1:32 p.m. rural Keystone resident reported that the neighbor’s dog keeps killing her cats.
Wednesday, 10:33 p.m., Wells County Jail, 1615 W. Western Ave. Sheriff’s deputy responded to assist jail staff with an unruly inmate. A conducted electrical weapon was used on the inmate to assist in subduing him.
Ossian:
Wednesday, 6:02 p.m., utility truck northbound on Ind. 1 from Bluffton with its right rear brake on fire. Ossian police officer pulled it over at Jefferson Street and Dyar Drive and placed the Ossian Fire Department on standby. The area was not burning at the time of the traffic stop but was emitting a strong burning smell. The driver of the truck called for a tow.
ACCIDENTS
City:
Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., Ind. 116 near Fairway Lane. Marquita J. Merchant, 67, Markle, hit one of two deer that ran into the path of her 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. Damage to the car exceeded $1,000.

Ty Eugene Archbold Crispen, 40, Bluffton; probation violation. No bond set.
Brent Alan Wells, 34, Markle; disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor, and intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor.
