Vicki Jean Shannon, of Bluffton, passed away on Aug. 25, 2026, leaving behind a family who will forever cherish her memory.

Born on Nov. 2, 1950, Vicki lived a life defined by her compassion and deep love for animals and the special place they held in her heart. She was a passionate advocate for animals, caring deeply about their well-being and standing up for those who could not speak for themselves.

One of the most meaningful parts of Vicki’s life was being a “monkey mom,” a role she loved dearly. It brought her great joy and reflected the tenderness and devotion she gave to the animals in her care.

Vicki is survived by her sons, Matthew McFarren and Joseph Shannon; Matthew’s wife, Annie McFarren; Joseph’s wife, Courtney Shannon; and her grandchildren, Anya, Luna, Nora, and Joseph, Jr. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Frantz, and his wife, Connie Frantz.

Her love and memory will live on through her family and the many lives she touched. Though words can never fully capture a life or the love a mother gives, Vicki’s compassion for animals and the people and creatures she held dear will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

In keeping with Vicki’s wishes, no funeral or memorial services will be held.

May she be remembered with love, and may her memory bring comfort to all who will miss her dearly.

Forever loved, forever remembered.
