Irvin Duane Premer, 79, of Ossian, passed away on Sept. 09, 2026, at his home in Ossian, leaving an imprint of love on the hearts of his family and friends.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1946, in Jay County, a beloved son of John William and Gay Louise Premer.

Irvin spent years working as a Maintenance Technician at Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne. Beyond work, he was known for his dedication and passion to help others, from driving the Sunday School bus for Calvery Temple to working at local food banks. He built a life anchored in hard work, kindness and devotion to his family.

He was a devoted and loving father who taught his children to always lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra Premer; his children, Jeffery Premer, Laura Livingston, Deborah Premer and son-in-law Walter Dobbins; and his grandchildren, Christopher Davis, Matthew Premer, Mellisa Premer, Megan Lightle, Kaylee Livingston; great-grandchildren, Leilani Premer and Hudson Davis. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Premer; and daughter, Katharine Sperlich.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Burial will take place at Fairview cemetery in Bluffton.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to Saint Judes Children’s Hospital and Stillwater Hospice and may be directed through the funeral home.
