
Larry J. Fenstermaker, 88, formerly of Geneva passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025 at Ossian Health & Rehab Center in Ossian. He was born Friday, March 5, 1937, in Geneva. He married Nila (Eckrote) Fenstermaker on Saturday, Aug. 30, 1969, in Berne.
Larry was a 1955 graduate of Geneva High School. He formerly resided in Geneva and Bluffton. He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Bluffton. He served his country in the U.S. Army serving in Germany for two years. Larry worked for the O’Hare Airport in Chicago where he was a ticket counter for the American Airlines, worked for United Airlines in Fort Wayne as an air freight manager, worked as an insurance agent as manager and district manager and retired training agents in 11 states. Larry was a member of the Bluffton American Legion, Decatur Masonic Lodge and the Downing & Glancy Coffee Club. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening and playing cards.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Nila (Eckrote) Fenstermaker, Ossian; daughters, Kathy Hanson, Berne, Lori (Dale) Townsend, Geneva; grandsons, Bryan (Rachel) Fenstermaker, Fort Wayne, David (Kiana Ewing) Townsend, Marion; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and brother, Mike (Ginny) Fenstermaker, Ossian.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theron “Ted” Fenstermaker; mother, Lorene (Schell) Fenstermaker; sister, Shirley Miller; and grandson, Brock Hanson.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home located at 100 N Washington Street Geneva on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
A service to celebrate his life will follow at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home at 3 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor Amy Beitelschees-Albers officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
