Caiden R. Miers, 21, of Bluffton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025.
Caiden was born in Fort Wayne on Sept. 25, 2003. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Angela (VanOver) Ricard and Mikah Ricard of Bluffton, along with his father and stepmother, Jeremy and Peggy Miers of Marion.
Caiden attended Jay County High School and had many hobbies, which included playing video games, music (especially playing his guitar) and shooting his bow at his grandparents’ house.
He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed fishing, swimming, going for walks, running and riding his bike. He also loved Pizza King and Monster energy drinks, and was an avid Chicago Bears and Boston Red Sox fan. He will also be remembered for his vivid imagination and his love for just “tinkering around.”
In addition to his parents and stepparents, Caiden is survived by a sister, Kristen Dalton of Hartford City; a stepsister, Lierra Hillman of Marion; a stepbrother, Jared (Emma) Hillman of Fort Benning, Georgia; five nieces, Abbagail, Kenzley, and Rylee Dalton, Jaiylah Mays, and Layton Hillman; his maternal grandparents, Elizabeth (Joe) Gearheart of Montpelier and Curtis (Lori) VanOver of Huntington; paternal grandparents, Ranelle (Richard) Cover of Muncie; maternal step-grandparents, David Ricard (Barb Sorenson) of Washburn, Wisconsin; paternal step-grandmother, Cheryl Caldwell of Albany; maternal bonus grandparents, Deanna and Mike Stuckey of Monroe; an uncle, Eric (Molly) VanOver of Berne; a great-uncle, Byron D. “Dean” Miers Jr. of Muncie; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Caiden was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Randy Miers; great-grandparents, Mary VanOver, Darnell VanOver, Paul A. Harshman and Shirley Harshman; a maternal step-grandmother, Jody Ricard; and his dog, Buddy.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, followed immediately by a funeral service at 3 p.m., with Kristian Mertz officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be made directly to Angela Ricard, to support an education fund that will be created to assist with Caiden’s nieces’ college education.
