Tigers win final home tennis match over Vikings

Bluffton finished its boys’ tennis home regular season with a bang, defeating Huntington North on Senior Night.

It captured a 3-2 victory, now improving to a 12-4 record.

The Tigers honored Nolan Lambert, Anthony Hartman, Ben Maggard, Kade Abbett and Dane Schlagenhauf on the varsity squad.

• Mason Kline (HN) defeated Nolan Lambert 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.

• Anthony Hartman (B) defeated Peyton Huff 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

•  Brayden Mayer (HN) defeated Jacob Ribich 7-6 (7-1), 6-4 at No. 3 singles.

• Ben Maggard and Coy Lantz (B) defeated Isaac Grogg and Eli Carter 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) at No. 1 doubles. 

• Kade Abbett and Dane Schlagenhauf (B) defeated Andrew Lochmaier and Isaiah Bordeaux 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Bluffton fell 5-3 in the junior varsity match.

Tigers beat Braves, Patriots in middle school football

Bluffton’s middle school football football teams went 2-0 on Tuesday.

The Tigers’ eighth grade squad smashed Blackhawk Christian 40-8, improving to 5-0 on the season.

Ethan Ribich completed six of his 12 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. One of those went to Maddox White for three catches, 72 yards and the other to Chase Kistler for two catches, 48 yards. Kistler ran four times for 143 yards and a score.

On defense, Cameron Simpson had nine tackles. Kistler, Cooper Affolder and Keaton Ingram all had five tackles. Corban Wheeler had 1.5 sacks and Braxton Bebout had .5 sacks.

The seventh grade team won 6-0 over ACAC for Jay County. The win improved them to 4-1.

Davin Drayer had the lone touchdown, carrying the ball 11 times for 27 yards. Riker Beste went 1-2 on passing for 30 yards, while Kreigh Ault went 4-5 on passes for nine yards.

Harrison Buroker caught the 30-yard pass from Beste. Wes Kunkel went 1-5 and Easton Schipper 2-4.

Simeon Terry led the defense with six tackles. Charlie Eisenhut had five tackles and .5 of a sack with Maddox Kauffman having the other half and three tackles. Kole Kiefer had four tackles.
