The busy time here in town is over as we put away the Festival papers for another year. Along with them will be filed the car show papers and mailing list for next year.

The car show was a great success and I will report those who entered and those who won trophies and their sponsors in my next column.

Daughter Robin had an eye doctor appointment on the Monday right after the festival so I rode along with her to drive her back. We decided we would enjoy that day after all the rush of getting ready for the festival.

While she was in the doctor’s office, I went to the bank that just happened to be across the street to deposit the Lions money in the account. Also just back of the bank was a hair salon so I took the time to get my hair cut for the rest of the summer.

Robin was early getting out of her appointment and we usually eat our supper on the way home so to waste some time we went to a store. Heading home, we picked the I-69 route and pondered which restaurant to eat at. We were greatly surprised when the hostess seated us. The place was packed which was unusual for Monday evening.

She was to seat us way back on the north side, but as we walked to the seats, right on the walkway was our grandson Shane’s wife Nicole, her mother and daughter Lily. We joined them at the table where our waitress was granddaughter Mia. They live near Swazzey which is a short drive to this restaurant.

Mia was extremely busy but she gave us a hug! Her father Shane was not along as he had a meeting. He is still vice-principal and baseball coach at Oakhill. This was a great blessing for ending the day.

Now we are back to the old grind! Getting ready for fall happenings and our entry into the Fork’s of the Wabash Pioneer Days coming up in September.
