Raiders crush Archers, Thomas throws no hitter

Kyah Thomas led Southern Wells to its second victory of the season in a 15-0 win over South Side.

Thomas tossed all five innings and threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 Archers. Her only base runner was with one walk.

At the plate, the Raiders were led by Emma Parks, who went 2-4 with a home run and a double with an RBI. Kaylea Coffel went 2-2, Gracie Reeves 2-4 with a triple and five RBI, and Remi Holmes 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Collena Reeves had three hits and an RBI.

The Raiders also stole 11 bases in the game, three by Bristal Chapman and Holmes and two from Reeves.

Southern Wells will be at home against Bluffton at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23.

Tackett wins third PBA bowling title

EJ Tackett won his third PBA World Championship and second in a row over the weekend.

His 217 score in the championship match over Matt Russo got him the win at Thunderbowl Lanes in Michigan. The victory netted him $100,000.

Knights pound Cadets in baseball, scores 16 runs

Norwell stomped on Concordia on the road 16-3 in baseball Monday.

The Knights pounded for 14 hits, and improved their record to 7-4.

Lane Lewis drilled his first home run of the season in his 2-3 day, bringing home four runs. Drew Graft and Korben Neuenschwander also had two hits each. Drew Jolley went 1-3 with a triple and three RBI and Garry Riley went 1-1 with a double and two RBI.

Noah Turk got the win, going two innings and allowing one run and one hit, no walks and two strikeouts. Noah Schamerloh threw three innings and allowed two runs, six hits, a walk and two strikeouts.

Norwell will be at Leo for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch om Tuesday, April 23. This will be the first Northeast 8 Conference game of the season.

Knights pick up NE8 golf win vs. Eagles

Norwell defeated Columbia City by two strokes on the road at Eagle Glen Monday.

The win pushes the Knights to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Northeast 8 Confernce.

The Knights scored a 167 to the Eagles 169. Cooper Sloan was the medalist at 38, followed by Derek Smith, Chase Hulvey and Ashton Federspiel at 43 and Bodie Zimmer at 49.

Norwell lost the junior varsity match 175-193.

Leading the Knights was Grant Mishler at 47, followed by Cavin Smithley and Phil Gaier (48), Owen Wallis and Zach Herrell (50), Logan Freiburger (51) and Josh Adam (55).

Norwell will host Huntington. North at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23.

Knights drop NE8 softball game to Lions

Norwell fell to No. 6 Leo 6-1 on the road Monday to open Northeast 8 Conference play.

The Knights got three hits in the game, one each by Kara Brown, Nevada Lenwell and Jordan Markley. Reese Frauhiger had the lone RBI.

Sami Lemler picked up the loss, going seven innings, allowing six runs and struck out three.

Norwell will host Concordia at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23.

Raiders compete at Eastern Relays in track and field

Both the Southern Wells boys’ and girls’ track teams participated in the Eastern Invitational Relays Saturday.

The boys finished in ninth place at the event with 23.5 points, while the girls placed 11th with 12.

• Peyton Ellis fifth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 17.77 and Kane Jenkins seventh at 18.16.

• Colter Kiel, Aiden Carroll, Aker and Kelton Barr fourth in the distance medley relay with a time of 13:04.07.

• Peyton Long fifth in the shot put at 41-11.50.

• Cappertied for seventh in the high jump at 5-2.
