Knights end perfect season with close loss to Cadets

Norwell dropped its first girls’ tennis match of the season, falling to Concordia 3-2 on the road.

The Knights fall to 6-1 on the year.

• Emma Jansing (C) defeated Delaney Hoover 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

• Macie Saalfrank (N) defeated Liz Beverly 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

• Annabelle Johnson and Macy Felger (N) defeated Anna Pennekamp and Ruth Dolde 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.

• Mallory Bean and Abby Scheiderer (C) defeated Jordyn Xayyayack and Ciera Hiester 2-6, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Norwell won the junior varsity match by a score of 7-3.

Bluffton splits at Argyll girls’ tennis invitational

Bluffton went 1-1 during its two games at the Argyll Invitational at Madison-Grant Saturday.

The Tigers lost the first round to Lewis Cass 4-1.

Bluffton will host South Adams in ACAC contest No. 2 of the season at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23.

Raiders place 1st in 8th grade girls’ track invitational

Southern Wells competed against eight other schools at the Southwood Invitational on Saturday.

The eighth grade girls’ team won the meet and the seventh graders finished in second. The boys’ seventh grade team finished in fourth.

The other schools at the invite were: Southwood, Rochester, Northwestern, Wabash, RJ Baskett, Maconaquah, Eastern and Peru.

Event winners:

• Trenton Hesher in the high jump.

• Adam Aulbach in the high jump.

• Bailey Jenkins in the 100m dash and 200m hurdles.

• Leighann Carpenter in the 200m hurdles.

• The 4x100m team of Kameron Hawkins, Lucy Fairchild, Keely Miller and Bailey Jenkins.

Knights drop three in a row 

in junior varsity softball

Norwell’s junior varsity team lost to Homestead on Friday and the two games at East Noble in Saturday this weekend.

At home against Homestead, the Knights fell 21-6.

Angie Rogers and Kaitlee Reinhard had multi-hit games, while Ayla Nern had a double. Carli Fausz, Alli Crow, Bria Reinhard and Brielle Foss had RBI.

Bria Reinhard picked up the loss.

In Game 1, on Saturday, Norwell fell 11-0 to East Noble.

The Knights had one hit, and it went to Bridget Wilson.

Fausz got the loss.

In Game 2, Norwell fell 25-13.

Hayden Herman went 4-4 to lead the Knights with a double and three RBI.

Bria Reinhard went 2-4 with two RBI, Allie Dillion went 2-4 with an RBI and Kaitlee Reinhard went 2-4 with two RBI. Makayla Young doubled and went 2-4. Fausz had an RBI.
