Saturday morning was the first golf invitational of the season for all three Wells County schools, and all three participated in the same one.
Norwell was the top dog at the South Adams Invitational played on Wabash Valley’s course. As a team, the Knights scored a 328 to take home first and was 12 points ahead of the runners-up Fremont.
Bluffton was the next of the 12 competing schools, scoring a 377 in eighth place, and Southern Wells were behind the Tigers in ninth with a score of 418.
The top individual went to Ashland Benner of Fremont, but Norwell’s Derek Smith was one stroke behind at 79 for the day. Bodie Zimmer finished in third at 80, Chase Hulvey (84, seventh) and Ashton Federspiel and Cooper Sloan (85, 10th) also cracked the top 10.
Bluffton’s top golfers were Declan Grieser and Conner Klopfenstein, who finished tied for 13th overall with a score of 85. Following them were: Kade Abbett (98), Anthony Hartman (107) and Max White (108).
For Southern Wells, Cash Banter was the top Raider with a score of 101, followed by Gabe McElhaney and Tristen Worster (103) Chandler Oswalt (111) and Dirk Frauhiger (113).

Norwell’s next match will be against Columbia City on the road starting at 5 p.m. Monday, April 22.
Bluffton will host Woodlan at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 30.
Southern Wells will visit Wabash at. 5 p.m. Thursday, April 25.
