Norwell’s Sami Lemler officially signed her letter of intent to play softball at Grace College Friday morning at the high school.
The Knights’ two-way player will be doing the same in college, pitching and playing the middle infield, specifically second base.
Lemler values playing at the next level and she will be studying business administration at Grace, but also the close-knit study body and faith-based culture it has.
“Their coaching staff is great,” Lemler said. “And I really connect with the team. I really enjoyed the Christ-centered community up at Grace.”
The Lancers are coming off of a 12-29 season and finished 11-25 in the Crossroads League.
Grace has two head coaches at the helm, Bo and Sam Coolen, who will be entering their third season with the program. They’ll begin the 2024 campaign in Melbourne, Florida to face Fort Lauderdale.
Lemer is entering her final season with Norwell, serving as their main shortstop and eating up innings as a starting pitcher.
On the mound, Lemler led the Knights with 53 innings, posting a 2.91 ERA, and struck out 39 and at the dish, she hit .239 with 13 RBIs and five doubles.
Lemer also shared that she believes in the coaching staff, and that they have a plan for her to succeed in the black and red uniform. She wants to work on all areas of her game in her time with the Lancers.
“Definitely to grow pitching-wise. I want to get faster and stronger, and I hope to be better at hitting,” Lemler said.
