Monday’s fire at 315 W Central Ave. in Bluffton was reported at 1:32 p.m. Pictured, firefighters attack the flames from above and either side of the building. Due to the freezing cold temperatures, the water running off quickly froze, as shown with the frozen icicles on the grill and ladder in the front yard.

On their day off from school, Mason Olivaris, kneeling in the photo at right, and Carter Conley, shown ladeling from a pot, served hot chocolate to first responders in the cold. Kristan Conley helped the boys. (Photos by Holly Gaskill)
