Norwell girls’ basketball got a bump up in the latest IBCA rankings this week.
The Knights (7-2) moved from 17th to 16th this week in their lone victory over Huntington North.
They’ll have their hands full on Friday, as they travel to No. 1 Columbia City in a game that could determine the Northeast 8 Conference early on in the season.
The Golden Eagles topped Norwell last season to claim the NE8 crown, and have already picked up two top-5 wins on the season against Hamilton Southeastern and Snider.
With Columbia City at No. 1, the rest of the top-5 girls rankings goes as follows: 2. Hamilton Southeastern, 3. Lawrence Central, 4. Lawrence North and 5. Snider.
On the boys’ side, Lawrence North comes in at No. 1, followed by 2. Fishers, 3. Cathedral, 4. Westfield and 5. Kokomo.
Norwell was in the preseason poll as receiving votes but dropped out after the season opener against Carroll.
