Tigers finish fourth, Raiders fifth in ACAC team duals

Bluffton and Southern Wells wrapped up the ACAC team duals over the weekend.

The entire conference each wrestled one another round-robin style in six matches. Adams Central was the top team going 6-0. Jay County was second at 5-1, South Adams third at 4-2, Bluffton fourth at 3-3, Southern Wells fifth at 2-4, Woodlan sixth at 1-5, and Heritage seventh at 0-6.

Bluffton’s first two matches were split, winning over Woodlan 60-19 and losing 72-11 to Adams Central.

On Saturday, Bluffton finished with another split with a 2-2 record. The two wins game against Heritage 72-9 and Southern Wells 53-28. The Tigers lost 66-12 to Jay County and 60-20 to South Adams.

Southern Wells began the weekend with two wins, defeating Heritage 60-18 and Woodlan 48-32.

The Raiders lost all four matches on Saturday, falling to Bluffton 53-28, Adams Central 78-0, Jay County 72-12, and South Adams 53-28.

Bluffton’s next match will be at home against Churubuco at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Southern Wells will be at home against Mississinewa at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14.

Knights place sixth in Norwell Boys’ swim Invite

Norwell finished third out of eight teams in its own Boys Invitational on Saturday.

The Knights scored a 220 in the event behind Oak Hill with 323 points and Huntington North with 232 points.

Top-three places:

• Rylan Heyerly second in the 200-yard freestyle and second in the 100-yard freestyle.

• Kale Meredith second in the 200-yard IM and in the 100-yard breaststroke.

• Colten Strunk second in the 100-yard butterfly.

• Ethan Williamson third in the 500-yard freestyle.

• Strunk, Meredith, Gage Reinhard and Heyerly second in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

• Williamson, Reinhard, Strunk and Heyerly in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Norwell will host Snider/Wayne at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Knight girls move to No. 14 in latest IBCA hoops poll

The Norwell girls’ basketball team jumped up two spots in the latest IBCA poll this week.

With the Knights (9-2) win over No. 1 Columbia City, the team moved from No. 16 to No. 14. The rankings are based on all four classes and as a state.

The Eagles fell to No. 3 with their first loss of the season.

The rest of the rankings are as follows: 1. Lawrence Central, 2. Hamilton Southeastern, 3. Columbia City, 4. Snider and 5. Lawrence North.

The boys’ poll features Lawrence North at the top at No. 1, followed by 2. Fishers, 3. Westfield, 4. Indianapolis Cathedral and 5. Noblesville.
