Norwell golfer Emma Dodane signed her letter of intent to Indiana Tech University at the high school Friday morning.
Dodane, who was a part of a regional qualifying Knights’ group this fall, is joining the Warriors that currently has just four members on the roster. She will have the potential to seek meaningful playing time right away for the team.
With head coach Mark Beneke in attendance, she was eager to get the pen to paper and make it official.
“It’s just really awesome. I’m glad I’m able to get that done with and have that secured honestly,” Dodane said. “I’m really happy to be at Indiana Tech, and I’m really excited.”
Indiana Tech competes in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference and recently was projected fourth out of the 12 teams after finishing second last season. The team produced two all-conference players at the final tournament in Augusta, Michigan.
In NAIA golf, teams split their seasons in the fall and in the spring. The first half of the season will feature five invitationals including the WHAC Conference preview tournament back at Augusta. The rest of the schedule has not yet been released.
Indiana Tech plays at Donald Ross Golf Club in Fort Wayne, and Dodane shared some of her thoughts about it.
“It’s definitely a tough course,” she said. “I’ve gotten better as I’ve played it, but it’s a really beautiful and open course and I enjoyed playing.”
The course is 3,472 yards long and is a par 36, according to the website.
As a student, Dodane plans on majoring in business management and perhaps going into a second field of study. She emphasized that the campus was beautiful when she took a visit and she liked the campus life.
