As 2023 winds down, I find myself with more and more to do and less time to do it in. I’m sure that you do to, especially, if you have school age kids at home that need to be delivered to all kind of activities.
If you didn’t hear this announcement or see a flyer tonight, Oct. 30, is the Lions Clubs Annual Halloween Party beginning at 6:30 p.m. Everything is free and there are cash prizes for costumes. After the judging, there is food, bingo, and treats.
On Halloween night you can trick or treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Residents wanting to treat may signal by leaving their outside porch light on. Drivers through town be very careful as there will be lots of kids on the streets.
The Zanesville Community Church of God’s Coffee Cafe is open every morning at the church on Marzane/Indianapolis Road. They open at 7:30 and close at 10 a.m. Come on in and meet some new neighbors and friends.
I will remind you that if you have any large Christmas display that you are not using this year you can call me and I will see if it will work for our display at Ouabache Park’s drive through Christmas in December. The Lions are getting ready for setting up there in late November.
Founders of Friends of Ouabache State Park were honored on Oct. 21st for their 10-year anniversary. Kenny and I were privileged to be a part of the founders group. I was especially interested as Myra (Lydy)Myrtle, who headed up the creation of the group, wanted to honor her father by getting a statue at the park of a CCC member. The CCC was responsible for keeping up the park during the depression and my grandfather enticed them to send men to Zanesville to build a pond on the farm on the south end of town. The men from the CCC and the WPA worked for three years to build it by hand.
