Knights top Barons for first NE8 volleyball win

Norwell earned its first conference victory of the season with a 3-1 win over DeKalb at the Castle Thursday night.

The Knights lost the first set 25-19, won the second 25-10, won the third 25-21, and won the fourth 25-23. Their record is now 14-7 (1-2 NE8).

Macie Saalfrank was the leader in kills with 17, Marlee Wenger with three aces and 26 assists, Vanessa Rosswurm with two blocks, and Jordyn Xayyachack with 22 digs.

The Junior varsity team won in two sets (25-11, 25-15), while the freshmen also won in two sets (25-12, 25-14).

Norwell will be at Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25.

Tigers lose in final regular season boys’ tennis match

Bluffton fell in boys’ tennis on the road against Concordia 5-0.

Knights fall to Lions in NE8 boys’ tennis game

Norwell was swept by Leo in boys’ tennis Thursday night on the road.

The Knights are now 11-4 on the season (4-3 NE8).

Tigers top Panthers in V-ball

Bluffton fell in three sets at home against Eastbrook Thursday night.

The Tigers lost the first set 25-22, the second 25-22, and the third 25-17. The Tigers are now 7-11 on the season.

Stat leaders for the Tigers were Maryn Schreiber with 11 kills and seven stuff blocks, Haley Gibson with 18 assists and three aces, and Marly Drayer with 23 digs.

The junior varsity team won in two sets (25-15, 25-16).

Stat leaders for the junior varsity team were Rylynn Penick with four kills, four aces, and one stuff block, Ella Borror with seven assists, Sophie Eisenhut with four kills and one stuff block and Madelyn Funk with 16 digs.

Bluffton will face Adams Central in game one of the ACAC Tournament at Heritage High School starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23.
