Norwells wins NE8 tennis match over East Noble

Norwell defeated East Noble in boys’ tennis 4-1 on Thursday.

The Knights improved to a 10-2 record and 4-1 in the conference, clinching an above .500 record.

• Jaden Payne and Jake Hoover defeated Mason Monahan and Jackson Strycker 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Norwell won the junior varsity match 6-1.

Norwell will host Snider at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.

Knights beat Starfires in girls’ soccer match

The Norwell girls’ soccer team kept its winning ways with a 6-0 win over South Adams at home Thursday night.

The team is now 8-3-1 on the year, having won six of the last seven games.

Makenzie Fuess led the team with three goals and two assists. Issie Isch had two goals, Grace Mann had a goal and an assist, and Morgan Batdorff had an assist.

Gracie Rinkenberger and Abby Wagner combined for the shutout in net.

Norwell will be at DeKalb starting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18.

Braves edge Tigers by one stroke in girls’ golf 

Bellmont nearly beat out Bluffton by one stroke at Timber Ridge Golf Course Thursday.

The Tigers had a team score of 207, while the Braves had a 206.

Piper Morgan led the field, and the Tigers as the medalist with a 48 overall. Following Morgan was Eve Corwell (52), Tressa Renner (53), Addie Kauffman (54), Aleeah Grover (62), and Sy’Annha Jordan-Turner (62).

Bluffton will be at the sectional starting at 9 a.m. Friday at Chestnut Hills Golf Course.

Tigers fall to Starfires in ACAC boys’ tennis

South Adams hosted and beat Bluffton in boys’ tennis 3-2 on Thursday.

• Will Mawhorr and Cole Hyman (SA) defeated Dane Schlagenhauf and Coy Lantz 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.

• Kade Abbett and Ben Maggard (B) defeated Kade Sprunger and Gabe Neuenschwander 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

The junior varsity Tigers won 4-0.

Bluffton will be at Adams Central at 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.

Knights drop volleyball game to Leo in NE8 play 

Norwell’s volleyball team fell to Leo in three sets during the Thursday night conference opener at home.

The Knights lost the first set 25-15, the second 25-20, and the third 26-24. The team is now 12-6 (0-1 NE8) on the year.

Stat leaders for the Knights were Macie Saalfrank with eight kills, Jordyn Xayyachack with 12 digs, Mekynzi Beck with two blocks, Autumn Lee with one ace, and Marlee Wenger with 15 assists.

Norwell will be at South Side at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.
