Bluffton wins boys’ tennis match over Bishop Luers 

The Bluffton boys’ tennis team defeated Bishop Luers on the road 4-1 on Wednesday.

• Nolan Lambert (B) defeated Jackson Keirns 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

• Jacob Ribich (B) defeated Pete Allen 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

• Dane Schlagenhauf and Coy Lantz (B) defeated Ashton Cramer and Harrison VanBurg 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. 

• Kade Abbett and Ben Maggard (B) defeated Cole Gerardot and Brandtly Hike 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

The junior varsity Tigers also won by a score of 5-2.

Knights shutout by Cadets in boys soccer match

Norwell fell on the road against Concordia in boys’ soccer Wednesday night.

The team was shut out 3-0 and now moves the Knights to 4-6-1 on the season.

Noah Fromm had 13 saves in net.

Norwell’s next match will be at home against DeKalb at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18.

Tigers sweep in middle school football games

Bluffton’s middle school teams remain unbeaten as the eighth and seventh graders won on the road in conference games.

The eighth-grade team won 28-12 at Woodlan.

With the win, the team is now 3-0 and has outgained its opponents 768-258 in those games.

Leading the rushing attack was Dawson Lee with 125 yards on 17 attempts and two touchdowns. Parker Barnes had 26 yards, and Gavin Grieser had 22 yards and a touchdown.

Grieser threw 5-9 in the air for 97 yards and a touchdown strike to Barnes, who had all five catches.

Chayson Brown led the way with five solo tackles and a sack. Dawson Lee had five solos and one forced fumble. Gibby Grieser had four solo, Bennett Stoller had three solo and one assist, Cooper Jenkins had one solo, two assists, a sack, and one forced fumble, Barnes had three solo, and Brant Moser had three solo and an interception.

The seventh-grade team won 22-6 at Jay County.

With the win, the Tigers are now 3-0 and have outrushed its opponents 528-18 in those games.

Leading rusher for Bluffton against the Patriots was Chase Kistler, with 139 yards on nine attempts and one touchdown. Maddox White had two carries for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

Ethan Ribich was 1-2 through the air, and Parker Christal was 0-1. Both did not gain a yard. White made the lone catch.

On the defensive end, Wyatt Holmes led the team with seven solo tackles and three assists. Cameron Simpson had four solo, and a sack, Chase Kistler had three solo and one assist, Jabraylon Hamer had three solo and a sack, Cooper Affolder had one solo, two assists, and a forced fumble, Trace Simpson had one solo, one assist, and a sack.
