As I write this column it is now August and fall is coming on. Where do the days go? We now have to be thinking about winter and those nasty heat bills.

Here in town Centershot continues on Monday evenings on Aug. 14, 21, and 28  from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and watch the archery skills of friends and family. They set up on the north side of the Zanesville Community Church of God. The church brings this program to town every summer and is organized by Pastor Steve Whetstone. For information call 260-638-4239.

On Tuesday remember to come to the Zanesville Town Council meeting that is held every third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal building on Wayne Street. The date for this one is Aug. 15.

Mark your calendars:

Sometime in the middle of the month the Zanesville Lions Club may have a garage sale. Look for signs!

On Saturday, Aug. 26, the Zanesville Lions join in on sponsoring the Zanesville Community Picnic that will be free and held at the Lions Community Park. There will be food, games and a program. I will report more later.

The Zanesville Lions Club annual car show was held during the 175th birthday celebration of the Town of Zanesville Festival Day. The show was a great success even though a few were scared away by early rain showers. There were 83 cars registered with three that did not get to the show. The Lions gave out 50 trophies. Here is the report of winners. Good luck next year to those who did not place.
