City:

Wednesday, 2:47 p.m., West Spring and South Johnson streets. Welfare check requested for subjects in a verbal argument. Subjects advised nothing was physical. No issues.

Wednesday, 6:01 p.m., East Walnut and South Bennett streets. Report of man in the middle of the road.

Wednesday, 7:20 p.m., 700 block of South Bennett Street. Caller reported finding a pistol and paraphernalia in a storage unit he purchased. Firearm was a BB gun, and the paraphernalia was destroyed.

Wednesday, 11:02 p.m., 1200 block of Hollyhock Lane. Officer reviewed screenshots from Facebook messenger and found nothing criminal. Advised caller to block subject on Facebook.

Thursday, 7:07 a.m., South Adams and West Lancaster streets, Bluffton. Driver cited for driving through two sets of barricades on the bypass north of Ind 1.

Thursday, 7:19 a.m., 200 block of East Townley Street. Report of gas tank door open. Nothing stolen, no gas missing.

Thursday, 12:10 p.m., 900 block of Ranch Road. Report of a car running three hours later in the garage. Concerned of gas leak in home.

Ossian: 

Wednesday, 11:39 p.m., North Ind. 1 and East 700 North, Ossian. Officers pulled over Amy Sue Helms and noted a Simply Spiked Lemonade on the passenger floor of her vehicle. They asked her if she had anything to drink and she reported two drinks, however, refused chemical testing. Officers located a clear plastic container with three green crystallized gummies on the front passenger side seat in a purse. The vehicle was towed. Officers obtained a search warrant for a blood test and Helms was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors, and operating a vehicle with a plate belonging to another vehicle, and operating transferred plated – no proof of ownership, both infractions.

Wednesday, 1:50 p.m., Wells County Sheriff’s Office. Subject complained his vehicle was not at Freemans.

Wednesday, 2:40 p.m., North 100 East and East 400 North. Officer provided traffic control for subject with flat tire.

Wednesday, 2:41 p.m., near 3000 South 700 East, Bluffton. Caller reported of subject knocking on door at 1 a.m.

Wednesday, 2:58 p.m., 11666 North Marzane Road, Markle. Deceased deer removed from roadway.

Wednesday, 4:14 p.m., 1244 East 700 North. Subject reported a green Mustang regularly driving through area above speed limit. Officer will patrol area.

Wednesday, 4:16 p.m., 5400 West 300 South, Liberty Center. Officer gave subject ride to hospital.

Wednesday, 8:29 p.m., South 100 West and West 100 South, Bluffton. Report of a “loose pot belly pig, the four legged kind” in the field. Caller also reported the animal appeared to be a pet, presumably the four-legged kind, versus livestock.

Thursday, 12:39 a.m., Wells County Jail. Officer read active arrest warrant to inmate at the jail.

Thursday, 6:57 a.m., North 100 East and East 100 North, Bluffton. Officer checked on truck parked at intersection, subject was dropping child off at bus stop.

Thursday, 11:26 a.m., South 100 West and West 200 South, Bluffton. Report of loose, friendly sheep.

ARRESTS

Jeffrey Wayne Dawson, 23, Stark, Fla., was arrested for a probation violation, a Level 3 felony.

Amy Sue Helms, 50, Fort Wayne, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors, and operating a vehicle with a plate belonging to another vehicle, and operating transferred plated – no proof of ownership, both infractions. Bond set at $1,500.
