The city of Bluffton is delaying its decision on purchasing a new server.
A bid was opened earlier this month from Reliance IO Technology Group, for $198,000. The server will be central to all city functions.
The price is a problem and Mayor John Whicker said last week that the source of the money has to be nailed down before any purchase agreement is made final.
Also, the city has hired a new information systems director, Karen Morris, and the members of the Board of Works — Whicker, Scott Mentzer, and Josh Hunt — want to have her provide input on the decision as well.
Reliance IO Technology Group provides information technology services to the city and has done so since 2021.
