Educating the public is one of the goals of the Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center and Tuesday evening they were able to tell about raptors at a program offered at the cabin during the 4-H Fair. A member of the audience was invited by Bob Walter to come demonstrate what makes a raptor a raptor—including sharp beaks, eyes, ears, a visor of the eyes, talons, wings and tale feathers. Barn Owl Peabody was introduced by Kaligh Massman.
Red tail Hawk Orion was showing off his feathers as Bob Walton held him up for all to see.
At the conclusion of the program presentation by the Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center folks from the audience, assembled by the cabin at the 4-H Park, were invited to be photographed with the birds. Here Jodi and Jody Holloway met the Red Tail Hawk being held by Bob Walton, at right. Other birds introduced included an American Kestrel, A Screch Owl and a Barn Owl.(Photos by Barbara Barbieri)
