I woke up this morning, May 30, to a phone call from the electric company advising me that our electric service will be turned off at 10 a.m. for maybe two hours. The time was 7:30 a.m. and I didn’t listen carefully to the announcement. Did it say REMC or AEP?
Here in Zanesville, we are divided not only by counties but by electric companies. I am on AEP but the Lions Park is on REMC and, if I definitely needed power, I could string an extension cord across the county line over to the neighbors across the street and I would have power again. This has happened when we have had lots of rain and the sump pump would not run.
Anyway, I have an electric typewriter and I need to get writing fast.
Don’t forget to go down to the park and check out all the games.
The Zanesville Lions 5K Fun Run was held on Saturday, May 27. We could not have asked for more perfect weather for a run.
Nineteen runners, one walker, and five for the 1 Mile Fun Run made a total of 25 participants. Thanks to Skip Stinson and his friends who help put together and make up the trophies for the run. This year almost everyone received a trophy. First-, second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-place trophies were given to both male and female runners. Top 5 Masters went to men and women. First and second place certificates were given in age groups. The kids participating in the Fun/Run were awarded medallions.
Lions Club members present were Larry Herron, Steve Keesler, Robin Phillips and Melba Edwards. Without Skip and his friends and those of you who sponsored our T-shirts, we could not have this fundraiser.
Now for the list and times:
