The Bluffton High School administration announced that newly hired boys’ basketball coach Adam Gray submitted his resignation on Thursday.

The reason for the resignation is due to personal reasons, according to multiple Bluffton athletic staff members.

Gray, who had been an assistant coach for the Tigers girls’ basketball team in the past, was officially announced as the Tigers boys’ coach at the Monday, April 10th’s school board meeting. He spent the last five seasons as the head coach of Heritage’s boys’ team, where the Patriots put up a 13-12 record in his final season.

Athletic Director Steve Thompson said in a phone interview that they began the search for Gray’s replacement immediately and would have the coach hired “as soon as possible.”

This basketball off-season, Bluffton’s athletic staff replaced not just a head coach for the boys’ team but the girls’ as well with the hiring of Doug Curtis.

A press release to the boys’ basketball parents stated open gyms and workouts will still occur in the meantime and will continue as scheduled. However, “camps and games will be paused until adequate coaching is secured.”

The Tigers are coming off of a 2-20 season in 2022-23 but have shown promise with the lower levels providing winning records from middle school to junior varsity.
