The city of Bluffton started its annual hydrant flushing program this week, a task that is scheduled to continue until Friday.

The targeted areas for the rest of the week are:

• Tuesday, June 6 ­— The area north of Spring Street and east of Main Street to Wayne Street. Also included are areas of Ind. 124, Elm Grove Road, Wildwood Lane, Compromise Lane, and White Bridge Court, plus the area west of Main Street from Washington Street south to Spring Street.

• Wednesday, June 7 ­— Everything west of Bond Street and Market Street, plus going north on Main Street to the east side of the entrance to Willowbrook Trail. The schedule includes Bell Brook Boulevard, the Christian Care facility, Madison Avenue, and William Wells Circle.

• Thursday, June 8 ­— Going west of West Wabash Street going west and all areas north of Wabash Street. Also scheduled are the Willowbrook subdivision, the north side of Bellbrook, the east side of North Main Street, Monroe Street, and the south portion of Northwood Farms.

• Friday, June 9 — Starting at North Main Street and Hillcrest Road covering everything on the west side of North Main Street going south. Also scheduled are the areas from Walmart north, including North Main Street, Jackson Street, the North Oaks subdivision, Premier Flats, and River Terrace.

The schedule is weather sensitive. If any work is delayed, the plan is to finish the program on Monday, June 12.

The flushing started Monday starting at the new water plant on the south side heading north.
