Tigers defeat the Hornets in baseball
The Bluffton baseball team won in a rout at home over Angola 10-1 Wednesday.
The Tigers’ bats were led by Drew Pressler’s three hits, scoring and driving in two runs. Eli Garrett had two hits and a double, and Griffin Morgan added a double to bring home an RBI.
Morgan also got the win going five innings worth of one-run baseball, striking out five and allowing just three hits. AJ Streveler came in relief and threw two shutout innings, striking out three.
Bluffton will be at St. Mary’s Memorial starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13.
Knights top Panthers in baseball
The Norwell baseball team traveled to Snider and defeated the Panthers 5-2.
Lleyton Bailey led the team with three hits in the game. Cale Mallery drove in two runs with a single, and Curtis Ellies drove in one on a sacrifice bunt.
Brody Bolyn got the win, throwing a complete, two run game allowing five hits and striking out one.
Norwell will head to Huntington North starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11.
Patriots edge Patriots in ACAC baseball
The Southern Wells baseball team fell at home to ACAC foe Jay County 9-5 on Wednesday.
The loss brings the Raiders’ record to 4-15 on the year and 0-5 in the conference.
The team collected six hits, led by Bryar Gearheart’s two, including a double. Jenson Nusbaumer led the team with two RBIs with a single.
Cody Perdue got the loss, throwing six innings, allowing eight runs (five earned), and struck out four.
Carsen Smith and Kedrik Sonnigsen combined for one inning and relief and allowed a run.
Southern Wells will be at Woodlan for another conference game starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11.
Knights shut out by Vikings in softball
Norwell was defeated in five innings at home against Huntington North 10-0 Wednesday.
The Knights had one hit in the game and it was from Delaney Connett.
Sami Lemler got the loss, allowing 10 runs (only one was earned) with 10 hits and four strikeouts in four 2/3 innings of work. Kara Brown threw a third of an inning and got a strikeout and no runs allowed.
Norwell will be at Bluffton at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 11.
Braves sweep Tigers in girls’ tennis
The Bellmont girls’ tennis team swept Bluffton on the road 5-0 Wednesday.

Knights fall to Chargers in girls’ tennis
The Norwell girls’ tennis team was edged out at home by Carroll on Thursday 3-2.
The varsity now has a team record of 9-3 on the season.

Barons edges Tigers, Knights in MS golf
DeKalb traveled to Timber Ridge Golf Course and defeated Bluffton and Norwell in middle school golf Wednesday.
The Barons won with a team score of 231, topping the Tigers by one stroke. Norwell finished third with a score of 268.
Leading the Tigers was Reid Abbett with a score of 43, followed by Abe Atkins with a 44, Gibson Griser 45, Rafe Gerber 47, Bennett Stoller 53, and Gavin Griser 58.
Leading the Knights was Trip Mitchell with a score of 46, followed by Isaiah Geoglein 49, Eli Sonnigsen 54, Cash Fegely 57, Emma Burnau 62, and Sam Squires 65.
Bluffton won the junior varsity match with a team score of 269. The leading scorer in the JV match was Abram Gehrett with a 50, followed by Cooper Pearson with a 52, Evan Klopfenstein 55, Will Ault 54, Parker Nash 58, and Graham Linderwell 63.
Norwell finished third in the junior varsity match shooting a 310. Leading the Knights on JV were Westin Miller and Cole Balkema who shot 60s, followed by Lilyana Sailor, 62 Kendall Fegely 63, Kyle Adams 65, and Vivian Reidenbach 67.
Knights top Cadets in junior varsity baseball
The Norwell junior varsity baseball team defeated Concordia at home 11-1 in six innings Wednesday.
Noah Turk and Eli Randol led the team with two hits each. Randol with three RBIs. Turk and Gary Reiley both had doubles in the game. Max Babcock drove in two runs on a base hit.
Cayden Cassel got the win, throwing three innings without allowing a hit, and struck out six. Ryne Thornton threw three innings as well, allowing one hit and one run while striking out four.
Norwell will host Huntington North at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11.
Norwell routs East Noble in MS tennis match
The Norwell Middle School tennis team’s dominated East Noble 19-2 in the overall scoring Wednesday.
Winners on varsity were Braylon Troutt, Lucy Gerbers, Aubryn Keller, Chloe Comer, Melissa Hoag, and Mallory Young.
Winners on junior varsity were Charlotte Swindell, Hazel Lewis, Greyson Chavis, Julian Torres, Mallory Young, Carley Wolf, Haley Lewis, Camdyn Gerber, Brock Martin, Stella Tumbleson, Lily Dollion, Kennady Bixler, Bella Hubble, Cayden Robbins, and Jordan Mills.
