Sydney Kent

Sydney Kent, who grew up in Bluffton and Ossian, is the newest member of the News-Banner’s newsroom staff.

Kent will be a general assignment reporter as she begins her News-Banner tenure.

She attended Norwell High School until the end of her sophomore year and then transferred to Nevada State High School in Las Vegas. She took classes at the College of Southern Nevada in a dual credit program.

She moved to Bluffton in 2013 and still lives here with her four children. She has been a foster parent for 10 years.

She has what she calls “a deep love of storytelling” and has worked in marketing and graphic design during for the past 10 years with multiple international nonprofits. 

She also calls herself “an advocate for people in addiction recovery.”

Among her local employers recently has been Grace and Mercy Transitional Housing facility on Clark Avenue in Bluffton.
