Thursday, 2:47 p.m., Walmart Supercenter, 2100 N. Main St. One person detained for attempting to steal merchandise from the store. Officer dispatched, took information for a report for formal charges to be filed at a later date.
Thursday, 7:18 p.m., Wayne Street at Spring Street. Officer located some children who had stolen a shopping cart from a nearby business and made them return it.
Thursday, 8:05 p.m., residence in the 400 block of East Silver Street. Officer requested to mediate a dispute between two people over the ownership of a ring.
Friday, 10:53 a.m., residence in the 200 block of North Oak Street. Caller reported some people who had been staying with him had moved out and when they moved out they took some of the caller’s possessions with them.

Thursday, 1 p.m., Markle Health & Rehabilitation, 170 N. Tracy St., Markle. Deputy requested to investigate a theft.
Friday, 11:05 a.m., Fairway Lane at 250N. Someone ran over and knocked down the stop sign at the T-intersection and then left the scene.
ACCIDENTS

Thursday, 5:34 p.m., Main Street at Monroe Street. A 2008 Chrysler Tow & Country van driven by Victor E. Schwartz, 26, Bluffton, hit a 2018 Chevrolet Trax driven by Aaron S. Sluder, 48, Ossian, from behind, pushing it into the back of a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Kurtis W. Baker, 58, Fort Wayne. Sluder complained of minor neck pain but did not request medical assistance. Schwartz told the investigating officer that he did not realize that traffic was stopped for the stop light. Damage exceeded $10,000.

Thursday, 6:45 p.m., Ind. 116 northeast of 500W. Jason B. Schlinder, 48, Markle, hit a deer with his 2014 Ford Taurus. Damage to the car exceeded $2,500.
Thursday, 6:15 p.m., 100E near 400N. Amanda J. Conner, 36, Bluffton, ran over a dead deer already lying in the roadway.
FIRES
Friday, 3:02 a.m., 1004 W. South St. residence of Sissy Elizabeth Coleman. Carbon monoxide detector alarm sounding. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. No carbon monoxide detected. Problem traced to faulty batteries.
Friday, 9:12 a.m., 5065S-Meridian Road Poneto residence of Robin E. Gaunt. Workers for Northern Indiana Public Service Company had moved a natural gas line, then left. Now the line was hissing. Poneto and Bluffton Fire Departments dispatched. Bluffton was later disregarded. Poneto firefighters stood by until a crew from NIPSCO could arrive and make repairs.
Friday, 10:16 a.m., 110 W. South St. residence subdivided into apartments. Smell of natural gas in the house. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. Source of the smell traced to a leak at the water heater in the basement of the structure. NIPSCO contacted.
ARRESTS
Joshua Aaron Case, 31, Greenfield; probation violation. No bond set.
Reonte Cliffton Moore, 23, Fort Wayne; battery by bodily waste, a Level 6 felony. Bond set at $5,000.
