Wells County Extension Homemakers celebrated the “Gifts of the Season” at their annual holiday luncheon on Dec. 1. The event was held at the Wells County Community Center at the 4-H Park.
Registration for the event was with Jean Reef while Club President Mary Ann Ripperger welcomed those attending. Vicky Lewis led the homemakers in the pledge to the flag and in reciting the homemaker’s creed.
Educator Molly Hoag shared some thoughts with the homemakers on how they could become gifts to others. The Wells County Homemakers chorus sang seasonal music with Shara Kunns directing.
Two inspirational poems were read by incoming president Charolett Gehring before the meal prepared by the Members of the Jefferson Club was served.
Shirley Yoquelet of Ossian presented a program of inspirational poems selected for the holiday season.
The current county officers were recognized by President Ripperger and included: President-elect Gehring, Secretary Linda Huseman, Treasurer Reef and Advisor Cindy Zook.
A Christmas sing-along was led by Kuhns and members of the chorus. Door prizes were awarded by the Choral Club.
Ripperger then shared a list of achievements that the Wells County clubs have participated in over the past year. Included on the list were the sewing of items for Riley Children’s Hospital, supporting the Riley Cheer Guild, assisting with 4-H Fair activities, the Feeding Tomorrow’s Future Today Backpacks program, Scatter Kindness Hearts, donations to Logansport State Hospital, Grace & Mercy Transitional Housing, and all homemaker programs.
