The 17th annual duck race, a fundraiser for Family Centered Services, raised $56,000 for the non-profit organization.

It was the fifth year that American Mortgage was the naming sponsor for the race. The funds received will go toward continuing the work of FCS in the community.

A total of 3,571 ducks floated down the temporary waterway on East Washington Street this year, competing for 30 prize packages.

The winner of the 2022 grand prize of $1,000 was Carol Leeth.

Along with the duck race itself, the event also included foam machines, bounce houses, kids’ games, free door prizes, free face painting, two food trucks, nine raffles, and four community partners. Life Community Church, Saint Marks Lutheran Church, and First United Methodist Church gave out shoes and socks to children.

FCS, which began in 1990, exists “to strengthen our community by empowering families and youth through services that educate and inspire.”
