Tigers’ volleyball takes first at Canterbury tournament
The Bluffton volleyball team Saturday morning competed in the Fort Wayne Canterbury Invitational. After three straight victories over Canterbury, South Side, and the Fort Wayne Falcons, the Tigers ended up winning the event.
The Tigers won all three of the matches in a 2-0 sweep. The match against Canterbury was won in two sets, 25-23 and 25-21. The game with South Side was won 25-13 and 25-19. Against the Falcons, the team won 25-19 and 25-23.
Bluffton’s next match will be on the road against Adams Central at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 20, with JV to start and varsity to follow.
Tigers boys’ XC wins South Adams Invite, Raiders’ seventh, girls’ 10th
The boys’ and girls’ cross country teams for Bluffton and Southern Wells competed at the South Adams School Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. Bluffton’s boys’ team placed first in the event, while Southern Wells finished seventh of 15 schools. The Southern Wells girls’ team placed 10th, while Bluffton had four runners compete without compiling a team score.
The Bluffton boys’ individual runners were 2 – Tyler Godwin in second (18:06.7), Jude Baumgartner in eight (18:35.4), Levi Johns 11th (18:51.3), Sam Baumgartner 15th (19:03.2), Griffin Linderwell 59th (20:51.7), Brett Kuhlenbeck 70th (21:41.4), and Ayden Teeple 76th (21:56.1).
For Southern Wells, Potter Garrett placed 17th (19:09.5), Joshua Bricker 22nd (19:16.3), Andrew Aker 40th (20:13.8), Rio Horner 42nd (20:16.3), Jarin Frauhiger 46th (20:28.0), Colter Kiel 47th (20:28.4), Peyton Ellis 80th (22:03.8), Kane Jenkins 98th (23:20.3), Miles Garrett 99th (23:30.0), and Nick Lozoya 100th (23:35.1).
For the girls, Southern Wells individual runners were Alexis Leidig 65th (27:05.4), 78th Adeline Sabinske (29:06.3), Zoey Solga 85th (30:32.5), Brianna Hughett 86th (30:35.7), and Ella Lahr 92nd (32:53.2).
For Bluffton, Dakota Lee in 56th (26:25.3), Annika Linderwell 62nd (26:55.5), Amarah Robles 69th (27:54.2), and Alydia Bertsch 75th (28:49.4).
Bluffton and Southern Wells will race next at the New Haven Classic at Huntington University, with the girls at 8:20 a.m. and the boys at 8:55 a.m. Saturday, Sept 24.
Knights girls’ XC finishes first, boys’ seventh at Riverview Health Invite
The Norwell girls’ and boys’ cross country teams made the road trip down to Carmel, IN. for the Flashrock Invitational Saturday morning.
The individual runners for the girls’ team were Brooklyn Meyer in 6th (21:15.64), Ashley Waldman 8th (21:16.86), Addison Meyer 10th (21:26.49), Haleigh Reinhard 17th (21:47.36), Makenzee Kahn 24th (22:11.60), Alana Cady 30th (22:49.86), Emerson Meredith 60th (24:15.36), Allie Shepherd 66th (22:53.72), Teagan Lesley 77th (25:58.25), and Marisol Nunez 88th (26:45.33).
The individual runners for the boys’ team were Zach Waldman in third (17:00.12), Gavin Threewits 42nd (18:20.57), Marin Melcher 50th (18:39.88), Landon Diver 58th (19:04.65), Lukas Mashuda 71st (19:04.65), Elijah Jacobs 72nd (10:10.06), Luke Johnson 80th (19:21.46), Zathan Westfall 86th (19:35.20), and Sam Peterson 98th 19:52.67).
Norwell will race next at the New Haven Invitational at Huntington University at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept 24.
