Tiger tennis one win closer to first ACAC title since ‘08
The Bluffton tennis team won its second conference match of the year, this time over South Adams Thursday afternoon. The Tigers soon the match 5-0 for the sweep.
The winners in singles were Keegan Schwartz over Connor Hyman 6-2, 6-2. Drrw Pressler over Gabe Neuenschwander 6-0, 6-0. Anthony Hartman over Ian Neuenschwander 6-0, 6-0.
The winning pairs for doubles were Preston Daughtery and Blake Moser over Dulce Sabio and Will Mawhorr 6-2, 6-3. Logan Reifsteck and Max Worth defeated Kane Sturwold and Brayden Grandlinard 6-0, 6-0.
The JV team also won their lone match.
Ethan Hunt and David Pence defeated Alez Stutzman and Bennet Hubbard 8-0.
The Tigers will go for the ACAC championship at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept 19, against Adams Central.
Knights girls’ soccer wins in a rout over South Adams
The Norwell girls’ soccer team won its game against South Adams 6-1 on the road Thursday night.
Addy Archbold scored a hat trick, and the tri of Annabelle Johnson, Emma Batdorff, and Grace Mann scored one goal a piece for the Lady Knights.’
The next match will be at 5:30 Monday, Sept 19, with the JV starting first and the varsity to follow.
Tigers girls’ golf drops match to Bellmont
The Bluffton girls’ golf team lost its match against Bellmont by a score of 196-200 Thursday afternoon at Timber Ridge Golf Course.
The medalist was Bluffton’s Lily King, with a score of 46. Following King for the Tigers were Emma Schwartz (49), Eve Corkwell (52), Kennedy Nash (53), and Tressa Renner (56).
Bluffton will be at their section next time out at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept 17.
Norwell tennis falls in close match with NE8 East Noble
The Norwell Knights tennis team took the court against conference foe East Noble and lost 3-2 on the road. This was the Knights’ first conference loss on the season (4-1), who now stands with an overall record of 9-3.
The lone victory in singles for Norwell was Bodie Zimmer over Cole Thompson 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. East Noble won the other two matches as Vittorio Bona defeated Ethan Ottinger 6-1, 6-4, and Ettore Bona beat Grant Mishler 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles, Norwell’s Jaden Payne and Jake Hoover won their match over Jackson Leedy and Grant Schermerhorn 6-4, 6-7, 7-6, 7-4. East Noble won No. 1 doubles with Max Bender and Carver Miller over Winston Frauhiger and Brason Chaney 6-0, 6-3.
Norwell won the JV matches 5-3.
The winners for the Knights were Owen Cupp (8-2), Ignacio Albrecht (8-4), Eddie Archbold and Ayden Quintanilla (8-2), Brayden Wallace, and Ethan Wilson (8-1).
Falling in the matches were Gavin Reynolds (8-4), Ethan Williamson and James Simmerman (6-1), and Alex Baker and Christian Werling (6-1).
The Knights will travel to Fort Wayne Snider at 5:15 Monday, Sept 19.
