Purdue University Fort Wayne has announced the line-up of speakers for the Omnibus Speaker Series, 2022-23.

The list includes Judy Woodruff, Sept. 14; Michael Steele, Oct. 24; Moogega Cooper, Nov. 14; Scott Dikkers, Feb. 16; and George Takei, April 25.

Woodruff is a longtime political reporter for NBC and CNN and now managing editor of PBS NewsHour.

Steele is an analyst for MSNBC and was first African-American elected to statewide office in Maryland when he served as the state’s lieutenant governor. He is also a former chairman of the Republican National Committee (2009-2011). His lecture is titled “The Political Scene According to Steele.”

Cooper is a NASA scientist and has served on the planetary protection agency’s 2020 Mars Mission, ensuring that earth-based contaminants did not make it to Mars. 

Dikkers is the founding editor of Onion and his talk will be titled “The Funny Story Behind the Funny Stories” 

Takei is an activist, recording artist, author and actor. His most famous role was that of helmsman Hikaru Sulu in the original Star Trek series. He spent part of his childhood in a Japanese American internment camp during World War II and now is a fighter for social justice.

All Omnibus talks begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Auer Performance Hall on the Purdue campus in the Rhinehart Music Center, 2101 Coliseum  Blvd. East.

Tickets are free on a first come, first-served basis and a $1.50 fee is charged on online orders. Tickets are limited to four per person and are released two weeks before the event.
