Among the activities at the log cabin at the 4-H Park during the 2022 4-H Fair were, from top to bottom, a presentation by Rebecca Wynn, a naturalist at the Ouabache State Park, speaking about the bison at the park; Daniel Boone, portrayed by Danny Russell, who shared stories of frontier life (a man needed three things on the frontier, he said — a gun, a horse, and a good wife); and a program presented by a frontier woman named Earlene, (portrayed by Jody Heaston) about plants that were used as food by the pioneers but are now often considered weeds.
