Jack Johnson, director of construction, is leading the efforts of this additional phase and explained that 46 single-family houses will be developed. Twenty-one of the homes will be single-family villas, without age restrictions.

“The villas will be stand-alone and structured with association fees for lawncare and snow removal. The balance of the homes will be single-family market-rate homes,” said Johnson.

The size of the homes will be larger than the Greenfield Farms housing addition, also developed by Ideal Builders. Kim Davis, director of sales, stated that the smallest home will be approximately 1,400.

“A typical home will include a 3-car garage, 3-plus bedrooms, 2-plus baths, with some having an office. This is what future homebuyers are indicating they want. Two story homes will also be included to accommodate the growing family,” Davis said.

The schedule for construction is expected to start late summer as infrastructure is placed in the lots with the anticipation of homes being built this year. The completion of the development will be based off home sales.

“We appreciate the cooperation with the Mayor, City of Bluffton, and Wells County during this process,” said Kevan Biggs, president and CEO of Ideal Builders. “There were a lot of revisions of the design, and it has been a pleasure working with everyone in Bluffton.”

Biggs explained that Ideal Builders works in 12 counties in Northeast Indiana and is very grateful for the participation and involvement the city of Bluffton offers. “We understand there is a need for additional housing, not just in Wells County, but across the region. Ideal Builders is trying to find solutions to expand and as we all work together, we can make an impact on a community.”

A community-wide contest was held throughout June to name the new subdivision based on public suggestions. Gustavo Gutierrez Rojas, marketing and communications, said, “The search for a new subdivision name in Bluffton is over, and we are happy to announce that we’ve selected a winner. The new community will be named Harvest Acres, pending final approval with the city county. The country setting and new name will fit like a glove for this subdivision.”
