Programs connected to history, nature, and pioneer life will be among the shows presented at the log cabin area during the 2022 Wells County 4-H Fair.

Danny Russell, an Indianapolis-area actor, will bring his Daniel Boone presentation to the fair for shows at 3, 5, and 7 p.m. Sunday, July 17. Russell has brought Boone, Abraham Lincoln, ,and James Whitcomb Riley to life at many festivals, fairs, and schools throughout the Midwest.

On Monday, July 18, Friends of Ouabache State Park will present a program about the State Park’s CCC Challenge and Car Tour at 6:30 pm. 

Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center will do a presentation at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, about eagles and raptors at 6:30 pm. They will feature live birds and how they have helped to rehab various species.

A demonstration of fiber dyeing, felting, spinning and weaving will be presented from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20. The program will be presented by several volunteers interested in fiber crafts and art. The staff from Ouabache State Park will also present a program at 6:30 p.m. on pioneers and plants.

The American Bison will be the topic of the program presented by Ouabache State Park staff members at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21.

Some seating is provided for the programs, but visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

A new feature this year at the 1855 restored log cabin is an all-access ramp that was added to the back of the cabin last fall so that it can now accommodate all visitors that would like to see the interior of the cabin. 

Hours to visit the cabin during the fair are Saturday, July 16, 6 to 8 p.m.; Sunday, July 17, 1 to 8 p.m.; and Monday through  Thursday, July 18- 21, 4 to 8 p.m.
