We are halfway through July, and you know what that means…..It’s 4-H fair time! Our friends at the 4-H park have many fun activities planned, so visit their Facebook page for a list of events.
Our 5 in 5 series ended this week, but we still have events to keep you in shape! Runners and walkers of ALL speeds and abilities are invited to join us on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. for FREE group runs. This is a great way to connect with other local runners and walkers. We will all start and finish at the Wabash River Pavilion behind Hardee’s, but you can run your own speed and distance.
Volunteer Dan Johnson has put together a 10-week training plan for all 3 distances of this year’s Parlor City Trot (5k, 10k, and 13.1 miles) and will be on hand each week to advise you and help you progress towards your goal. Go ahead and sign up for the 48th annual trot now at https://raceroster.com/events/2022/58081/parlor-city-trot. Race Day is September 3rd.
Don’t miss your chance to sign your youngster up for the next Hue Can Paint class on July 25th from 6 -7:45 p.m. on the 2nd floor of City Hall, where they will be painting an American flag. Class size is limited to 12. Your kids will enjoy the step-by-step instructions from a local artist to paint a one-of-a-kind creation to take home. Not only will they leave with beautiful artwork, but they will also feel accomplished as they master the painting techniques. The cost is only $15 per person and includes all supplies and instructions. To register, call 824-6069.
Join us for the 3rd FREE Friday night concert on July 29th at Kehoe Park from 8-10 p.m. along the Wabash River. “Simply Elton” is a tribute to the excitement, energy, and magical costuming of the one and only Sir Elton John. Brian Harris brings rocking and rolling, over-the-top piano style to the fore along with his Elton-styled vocals, channeling them into a performance that does justice to the rock & roll legend.
Bring your lawn chair and a few dollars if you want to purchase something delicious from the Street Chef food truck or something cold to wash it down from 2 Pour Guys, who will be serving adult beverages. (ID required)
This concert is sponsored by the generosity of Barkley Builders, Inc., with special thanks to Title Sponsors Wells County Foundation and ProFed Credit Union. Rain site, if needed, is Life Community Church 428 S. Oak St.
We had an excellent turnout for the Classic Car Cruise before last Sunday’s concert, with around 30 cars showing up. Now we are planning our next one, which will be a Jeep Cruise! Stop by the Dutch Mill Plaza on Sunday, Aug 7th at 5 p.m. and grab a free raffle ticket to win one of eight emergency roadside kits donated by Valero Renewables in Bluffton. At 5:30 p.m., we will take to the streets and cruise a few laps between Kroger’s and Christian Care Retirement Community. If you don’t have a jeep but want to join in the fun, find a place in the shade on State Rd 1 and wave! Afterward, come back to Kehoe Park for our last concert of the year featuring Sugar Shot, playing all of your country favorites. The concert is sponsored by Steve and Yvette Huggins.
Seniors are invited to join us on July 21st for the monthly Theater Thursday! The free film will start at 10 a.m. at the Wells Co. Public library. This year-round event is on the 3rd Thursday of every month.
Please be aware that the Inter-Urban Trail may be closed starting July 25th for a few days while some repairs are done to the North Bluffton Electric Station.
Have a great week!
