INCIDENTS

City:

Friday, 2:45 p.m., west South Street. Dispute between a mother and 15 year-old daughter about house rules. Officer calmed the parties.

Friday, 3:49 p.m., Wells Community Swimming Pool. Juvenile male yelling at managers and lifeguards after they told him to stop being unruly and calling women derogatory names. Officer responded and warned the juvenile for trespassing. Officer spoke with the juvenile’s mother about the situation. 

Friday, 4:37 p.m., south Mulberry Street at east Townley Street. Sink hole in the roadway. Street department notified. 

Friday, 11:10 p.m., west Wabash Street and north Marion Street. Verbal altercation between juveniles and woman. Juveniles went home with their mothers and the woman was warned. 

Friday, 11:12 p.m., 76 Sunset Drive. Caller reported someone had vandalized his vehicle with a key. 

Saturday, 2:31 a.m., 418 Meadow Lane. Woman reported her adult son was on drugs and behaving erratically. Officers assisted in calming the situation. Woman consented a home search, but nothing was found.

Saturday, 12:16 p.m., Peyton’s Northern Distribution Center. Stolen trailer reported. 

Saturday, 12:25 p.m., Budget Inn. Requested assistance removing a guest who did not understand her check out. EMS responded for medical assistance. 

Saturday, 2:04 p.m., north Main Street at Capri Court. Bag of concrete in the roadway. 

Saturday, 3:37 p.m., 1419 W Washington Street. Tan dog found with collar. No chip found. Homeowner agreed to look after the dog until Monday and then plans to contact the shelter. 

Saturday, 10:38 p.m., west Ohio Street. Individual reported several items from their home had been stolen, valued at a total $200. Caller named a potential suspect and officers agreed to follow-up with the suspect. 

Sunday, 8:44 a.m., west Market Street. Domestic dispute between a man and a woman. 

Sunday, 6:30 p.m., Peyton’s Northern Distribution Center. Woman reported the father of her child had shown up at her work and was arguing and threatening her during a custody exchange. Officer separated the parties. 

Sunday, 6:53 p.m., south Jersey Street. Dispute during a custody exchange. Officer responded to calm the situation. 

Sunday, 6:56 p.m., south Main Street at east Market Street. Dog found. Caller agreed to keep the dog for the night until the shelter opened in the morning.

Monday, 5:57 a.m., west Horton Street. Report of a stolen pot of tulips.

Monday, 8:10 a.m., east Central Avenue. Caller reported he and his wife were being threatened. Officer spoke with caller and will look into the matter. 

County:

Friday, 1:49 p.m., 9587S 700E, Keystone. Woman reported her phone number was being used to scam other people. Woman had been told by her phone company to file a police report. Police officer advised the woman to not give out any personal information to anyone contacting her as result of the scam.

Friday, 2:59 p.m., west Ind. 218 at south 450W. Deputy observed vehicle blow through a stop sign going full speed and continue to drive erratically at a high speed. The vehicle continued for over a minute as the deputy signaled the vehicle to pull over. Vehicle came to a stop in a ditch, almost losing control. Driver was identified as Richard Lee Jamagin, 62, Warsaw, and appeared heavily intoxicated. Assisting deputies arrived and assisted as Jamagin was unable to keep his balance and had soiled his pants. Portable breath test registered at 0.221. Jamagin was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony. He was also cited for only one brake light, driving with a license suspended, 75 in a 55 mph zone, driving left of center, failure to maintain lane of travel, driving with a open container, disregarding a stop sign and failure to update his driver’s license within 30 days. Bond was set at $5,000.

Friday, 4:16 p.m., west Market Street, Liberty Center. Caller needed assistance with an unwanted man on the property. Protective order had been granted against the man, but it had not been issued yet. Deputy explained this to the man and the man left. 

Friday, 5:46 p.m., Countryside Drive, Markle. Physical altercation between a man and a woman in the presence of a child. The Indiana State Police was asked to investigate the incident. Zachary Ross Gaskill, 38, Bluffton  was arrested for domestic battery in presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony. Bond was set at $25,000. 

Friday, 7:40 p.m., 9786S 1100W, Marion. Home security system alert. Home owner said his cat set it off and he did not require assistance. 

Friday, 11:03 p.m., 6330S 400E, rural Bluffton. Woman reported receiving threatening text messages from her roommate and was worried that she was going to be evicted. Deputy attempted to de-escalate the situation and advised the woman to bring the matter to the Wells County Court House. 

Saturday, 3:15 p.m., 4751S 100E, rural Bluffton. Caller reported an abandoned motorcycle in her front yard. Deputy ran the license plate to check if it had been stolen, but it had not been reported.

Sunday, 12:40 a.m., north Main Street at Willowbrook trail, Bluffton. Vehicle observed with no license plate. Upon pulling over the vehicle, the deputy observed a prominent smell of marijuana. Deputy found marijuana shake in the floor board and center console, as well as a large amount of money in a black leather bag. Deputy advised the driver to clean her car thoroughly and warned for improperly displaying the license plate. 

Monday, 12:37 a.m., Ind. 1 at east 300N, Bluffton. Deputy conducted a regular traffic stop on a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado for driving 77 in 55 mph zone and encountered the smell of alcohol. Driver Joshua Allen Barnes, 25, failed field sobriety tests and registered at a 0.97% in a breath test. Barnes was charges with operating a vehicle a with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater, a Class C misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.

Ossian:

Saturday, 2:23 a.m., north Jefferson Street at Bittersweet Lane, Ossian. Deputy ran a license plate on a silver Chrysler 300C that belonged to Kevin Richard Holman, 45, Bluffton. Report came back that Holman’s license had been suspended, but he had never received a license. Assisting deputies arrived on scene due to Holman’s expressed anger with the situation. Holman was arrested for operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond was not set. 

Saturday, 2:40 p.m., 5049 north Ind. 1, Ossian. Deer on the roadway. 

Sunday, 1:22 a.m., Hickory Lane, Ossian. Caller said he hadn’t heard from his wife in five hours while he was at work. Deputy located the woman at her home. She said her husband had been kicked out the day prior due to his drinking.

Sunday, 11 p.m., Ind. 1 at 200S. Report of a man and woman carrying juvenile in a ditch. Juvenile had ran away from his foster home and refused to walk back, which is why he was being carried. Deputy advised to call in the future if they ever needed help. 

ACCIDENTS 

County:

Sunday, 10:54 a.m., Ind. 116 at north 100W, Murray. Cecelia Sams, 30, Huntington was driving a 2016 Kia Optima southeast on north 100W when a deer entered the roadway and she was unable to avoid collision. Damage exceeded $1,000. 

Sunday, 1:20 p.m., Jeff Road at 500W, Poneto. Adam L. Schmidt, 58, Warren was driving a 2003 Ford F-150 truck northbound on 500W approaching Jeff Road and failed to yield the right of way to a 2010 Dodge Dakota truck driven by Trevor J. McKinnon, 32, Montpelier. McKinnon attempted to swerve, but the two vehicles entered a head-on collision. Both vehicles were towed by Wyatt’s Towing. Damage exceeded $10,000. 

FIRES

Friday, 8:38 p.m., 2424W 1200N, Yoder. Grass fire in a ditch. Uniondale Fire Department respond. Passerby had stomped out the fire. Fire under control at 8:54 p.m.

Sunday, 3:27 a.m., 827 Summit Avenue, Bluffton. Smoke detector went off twice. Bluffton Fire Department responded. No fire located.

Sunday, 1:29 p.m., 43 Westgate Road. Smell of smoke in the home. Bluffton Fire Department responded. No flames or visible smoke found. 

ARRESTS

Chelsa Elaine Freeman, 43, Bluffton; criminal mischief. Bond set at $2,000. 

TICKETS

Paula Winters, 54, Bluffton; 49 in a 30 mph zone. 

Shelby J. Wendel, 27, Portland; disregard of a lighted signal.
