Two Wells County residents — Connor Hamilton of Bluffton  and Elizabeth Schmidt of Ossian — joined other members of the Manchester University A Cappella choir as they performed “A Family Portrait” in New York City’s Carnegie Hall  on  Memorial Day.

Manchester professor Debra Lynn was invited to conduct her oratorio based on a collection of a family’s letters from the Civil War era. The performance, which fit in with the somber reflections of the day, received a standing ovation.

Hamilton is a pre-pharmacy major and Schmidt is majoring in finance and accounting.

The Manchester students took part in a five-day residency ending with the performance at Carnegie Hall.
