This weekend, American Legion Post 111 is hosting a fundraising effort for a former employee of Resource Maintenance, Susie Hamilton.
The fundraiser will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 25, and will feature a bake sale and raffle. The raffle will include donations from local individuals and businesses, including larger items such as a gas grill and a handmade quilt from Bluffton resident Sally Morrison.
Hamilton is currently fighting her second battle with cancer and has experienced recent complications in her medical treatment.
American Legion Post Commander Ron Marshall said the event will raise money for her medical expenses and to help her get back on her feet.
“It’s been great to see people come together for this,” Marshall said. “It’s an event for people who care about other people.”
Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Legion preceding or during the fundraiser. Donations are also welcome.
