The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff, ambassadors, and community supporters celebrated with a ribbon cutting celebration and grand opening for Shelton Financial Group’s new location at Dutch Mill Plaza in Bluffton. Shelton Financial Group now has an office in Fort Wayne, Ossian, and Bluffton.

Nathan Shelton, financial advisor, said that Shelton Financial Group has had a presence in Bluffton for several years; however, they have not had a designated space. The Ossian location opened in 2020 and the business has continued to grow. Finding a location in Bluffton was important for the needs of clients.

“Ossian was a great move for our firm, and we are certainly thankful for that location,” said Shelton. “We knew we needed to find additional space in Bluffton, which led us to the opportunity at Dutch Mill Plaza. A place with a lot of history, one that is near and dear to a lot of people, and we are grateful to be a part of that story.”

Shelton said that several people from their staff will be working out of the Bluffton location; however, Piercen Harnish, financial advisor, will be primarily managing the office.

“We are certainly growing in Wells County and Piercen has been an awesome team member. This growth will hopefully enable and empower him to do what he is called to do and a place he can call home. Having Piercen here is leveraging another young leader in our community to be involved with activities and different civic organizations,” Shelton said.

“I grew up with a Bluffton address and now I have a workplace with a Bluffton address, and it feels really good,” Harnish said. “I am excited to be in Bluffton. People refer to me as the sweet corn guy. I am excited to serve the community, not just with sweet corn, but with financial independence and financial education.”

Harnish explained that Shelton Financial Group is not just a wealth management firm, which is investing a client’s money, but goal makers. “We want people to have and reach their goals and we will help facilitate in any financial planning capacity, which could be risk management, tax planning, or long-term care.”

Harnish stressed that he is a financial health coach helping clients understand retirement and financial planning. “I want to help people live their dreams and cross their bucket list off in life. Shelton Financial Group’s tagline is ‘Work Hard. Plan Smart. Live Well.’ Our clients have worked hard, we want to help them plan well so they can live well for retirement. We strive to do this for every client. I am happy to meet with anyone and give advice, even if we don’t do business, but helping you understand we are here to serve the community in any capacity.”

“We are really excited to be a part of the Dutch Mill Plaza revitalization as there will be some sprucing up,” said Shelton. “Clint Gerber with Baller Signs did a great job creating our signage, Randy Buuck with Mr. B’s cleaned the carpet, Mari and Angie Topp with Toppings were serving ice cream and Matt Yergler had the Yergy’s food truck on site for the grand opening. We are so appreciative of their support. This a great location, near the downtown, with all the exciting things going on we want to add to that as well.”

Hours for the Dutch Mill location are by appointment only.
