The Norwell Middle School construction/remodeling project was officially kicked off Friday afternoon with a celebration in the parking lot on the north side of the current school. At right, Northern Wells Superintendent Mike Springer addresses the audience in front of a giant temporary pile of crushed concrete and aggregate that will be used in the construction of the new middle school. Below, sixth grade composition and social studies teacher Lindsey Burke, looks out onto the ceremonies from a window from a part of the current school that is slated for demolition.
Below, Norwell School Board vice president Angie Topp stands for recognition during the ceremony. In addition to Springer, engineer Mark Reinhard from Engineering Resources, architect Eddie Layton from Schmidt Associates, Kent Gilliom from Weigand Construction and school board president Corey Krug spoke about how the project came together, how all of the players in the school’s construction have worked well together to make the project a reality and the size and scope of the project. As Krug observed, “Even if it’s half as good as what it looks like it will be, it will be amazing.” (Photos by Glen Werling)
