Wednesday, 5:53 p.m., woman came to the Bluffton Police Department to report her 15-year-old son had stolen candy bars and an unactivated gift card from a Bluffton business.
Wednesday, 8:03 p.m., Dollar General Store, 123 W. Market St. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. No sign of foul play found.
Thursday, 11:38 a.m., Praxis substance abuse treatment facility, 1529 W. Lancaster St. Officer requested to remove a female patient who had been discharged but was refusing to leave.
Thursday, 11:53 a.m., Main Street near Market Street. Business owner reported that a man had just been in the business soliciting but was not registered. He left the business walking east carrying a cardboard box. The caller also reported that the man appeared to be “on something.” Officer checked the area but saw no one matching the description.

Wednesday, 7:42 p.m., rural Bluffton woman reported that someone calling from a New York telephone exchange claimed they were from Publisher’s Clearing House and were going to show up with a check for $3 million. The woman recognized the call as a scam and hung up. No one ever showed up at her house.
Ossian:
Wednesday, 10:13 p.m., Dollar General Store, 1011 N. Jefferson St. Report of a suspicious person loitering around the outside of the store. Officers responded. Whoever it was had left.
ACCIDENTS
City:
Saturday, May 7, 11:40 p.m., Scott Turmail, 54, Bluffton, was backing a 2010 Crown Victoria registered to Wells County Community Corrections, out of his driveway when he sideswiped a parked 2017 Chevrolet Cruze. Total damage exceeded $1,000.
Wednesday, 3:04 p.m., Ind. 124 east at Main Street. Jacob L. Tyner, 19, Bluffton, was driving west on Ind. 124 East in a 2017 Honda Civic. He failed to stop in time fore striking from behind a stopped 2016 Honda CR-V driven by Jeffrey G. Roberts, 70, Roanoke. Damage estimated at less than $1,000.
Wednesday, 3:19 p.m., Main Street near Ohio Street. A 1999 Honda Accord, driven by Lynnsie M. Christie, 28, Ossian, hit a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Amy N. Mowery, 42, Bluffton, from behind. Damage exceeded $2,500.
FIRE RUNS
Wednesday, 11:49 p.m., Clean Fuels, 4620E-900S, Keystone. Passerby reported a box truck parked in the parking lot of the business was on fire. Nottingham Township Fire Department dispatched and quickly doused the fire. The source of the fire was traced to an earlier fire in the same truck that employees believed had been extinguished.
Thursday, 2:27 a.m., Norwell High School, 1100E-U.S. 224. Fire alarm. Uniondale and Bluffton fire departments dispatched. Firefighters located smoke in a hallway of the school near Door 6. The source of the smoke was traced to a burned out belt on a compressor. The compressor had already shut down by the time firefighters arrived. The area of where the smoke was was vented by the firefighters.

Bradley L. Nelson, 28, Bluffton; failure to stop at a through highway, Oak Forest Drive at Red Oak Court.
